Vietnam announces new tourism plans

What Vietnam can offer to Tourist?

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has announced that “Exotic Beaches and Islands” will be the theme of the National Tourism Year 2011.

The National Tourism Year is considered the most important aspect of the country’s tourism calendar and is intended to encourage investment in infrastructure, tourism facilities and services.

In 2011, the government’s series of organized events designed to woo tourists will focus their attentions on Phu Yen Province. Da Nang City and other provinces in the region will also participate, VNAT announced.

Major events of the National Tourism Year 2011 will include an international mountaineering tournament at Da Bia Mountain in March 2011, the Vietnam-South Korea Cultural Exchange in April, and the ASEAN Traditional Music Festival in June.

Prior to the announcement, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism released a list of provinces and cities that will share the honor from 2012 to 2017.

Thua Thien-Hue will be the host in 2012, Hai Phong City in 2013, Lam Dong in 2014, Thanh Hoa in 2015, Kien Giang in 2016, and Lao Cai in 2017.

Launched in 2003, the designation has focused on cities all over the country - from Can Tho to Dien Bien. This year it focused on Hanoi to mark the city’s millennial anniversary.

What Canada Do to Boost their Tourism Industry?

I found information on Canada's action plan to boost their tourism industry. Can it works?

One of Yukon's most popular tourism attractions will undergo important safety upgrades which will help maintain as many as 80 seasonal jobs in the Dawson City region.

The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), today announced an investment of $80,000 for the Klondike Visitors Association (KVA) to install a fire suppression system at Diamond Tooth Gerties, an entertainment venue in Dawson City. This project will increase the facility's safety as part of its overall expansion and renovation.

"Our Government is proud to support Yukon's tourism sector," said Minister Duncan, who is also Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians. "This investment in Diamond Tooth Gerties will provide spin-off benefits for tourism in Dawson City, the Klondike region and Yukon, contributing to a competitive and prosperous North."

"A strong tourism industry in Yukon is key to long-term economic development in the territory," said the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Member of Parliament for Nunavut, Minister Responsible for the North and Minister of Health. "Today's investment will create short term jobs and help stimulate the local economy while also protecting an important tourist attraction from fires."

"The historic Arctic Brotherhood Hall, home of Diamond Tooth Gerties, is a signature Yukon visitor attraction and one of Dawson's most important community venues, said Gary Parker, Executive Director of the Klondike Visitors Association. "CanNor's generous contribution towards the cost of fire suppression system upgrades will help to ensure the continuing success of our famous old building."

The Government of Canada's investment is made through CanNor's Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan. The fund will provide $32.8 million across the North over two years.

The CAF is part of a suite of economic development programs that fall under the mandate of CanNor in Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. CanNor is responsible for coordinating and delivering federal economic development activities in the territories, and for related policy development, research and advocacy.
